PEF Picker is a small application that only has one job, finding shared libraries.
The default window of PEF Picker automatically shows all of the libraries (file type "shlb") located in your Extensions Folder. Since all libraries may not be located in the Extensions Folder there is an "Open" option in the file menu that allows you to locate libraries (individually) in other locations.
Finding libraries wouldn't be of much use without a method of displaying the information they contain.
PEF Picker make use of up to 4 other applications for display purposes, these are
PEF Viewer - written by Eric Traut (eric@traut.com)
Macintosh Programmer's Workshop (MPW) - available from Apple Computer
ResEdit - available from Apple Computer

The application used to display the library is based on your Preferences settings for PEF Picker. The default preference used the first time you run PEF Picker is for ResEdit, to change the preference simply pull down the file menu choose Preferences and select one of the enabled choices. PEF Picker knows which applications you have and will disable the choice if the application doesn't exist on your system.
To pick a library, either select it in the list and click "Ok" or double click the item in the list.
PEF Picker is freeware, you may use it or distribute it as you see fit as long as this read.me file accompanies it.
